Headteacher Welcome

Welcome to our School

I am delighted to welcome you to Chances Educational Support Services.

As Headteacher, I am incredibly proud to lead a school that is committed to transforming the lives of young people who need a different approach to education. Chances is an OFSTED-rated Good school, providing high-quality alternative provision for students who, for a range of reasons, have found it difficult to thrive in mainstream education. Our aim is to rebuild confidence, reignite a love of learning and help every young person achieve their potential.

Building on our success, we are proud to be expanding our provision to support students experiencing Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA). We recognise that every child's journey is unique, and our experienced team is committed to providing the personalised support, understanding and flexibility needed to help students overcome barriers to education, improve their wellbeing and successfully re-engage with learning.

At Chances, every decision we make is centred around our students. We believe that positive relationships are the foundation of success, and we work tirelessly to ensure that every young person feels safe, valued and understood. Through the dedication of our skilled teachers and youth workers, students are given the time, encouragement and individual support they need to rebuild confidence, develop resilience and create positive futures.

Our curriculum is ambitious, engaging and carefully tailored to meet individual needs. We strive to inspire curiosity, foster a love of learning and raise aspirations, while ensuring students continue to make strong academic progress. Alongside this, we place great importance on developing the personal, social and emotional skills that enable our students to flourish both during their time with us and beyond.

One of the greatest strengths of Chances is our unique combination of high-quality teaching and exceptional pastoral care. Our youth workers play a vital role in supporting students' emotional wellbeing, helping them to develop healthy relationships, improve self-esteem and build the confidence needed to face future challenges. We believe education is about developing the whole child, and we are committed to nurturing both academic achievement and personal growth.

Our dedicated staff work closely with families, partner schools and external agencies to ensure every student receives the support they need. These strong partnerships are fundamental to helping young people achieve lasting success, whether that means returning to mainstream education, accessing specialist provision or progressing confidently to the next stage of their education.

I am incredibly proud of our school, our staff and, most importantly, our students. Every day we see young people overcome challenges, develop resilience and achieve things they may once have thought impossible. It is a privilege to be part of their journey.

Our website provides a wealth of information about our school and the support we offer. If you would like to find out more, please do not hesitate to contact us or arrange a visit. We would be delighted to welcome you and show you what makes Chances such a special place to learn, grow and succeed.
